Overview
We are seeking dedicated Nurse Practitioners with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related fields to perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations. This role involves conducting interview-based evaluations, physical assessments, and documenting findings—without prescribing or treating patients. Work on a PRN basis, with options for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, supporting Veterans’ needs while maintaining your professional flexibility. Required Skills
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Indiana or the ability to obtain licensure promptly
  • Proven experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or relevant general medicine fields
  • Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed protocols
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to work within specified geographic boundaries (within 50 miles of home address when applicable)

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or Veterans’ healthcare practices
  • Prior experience in medical assessments for government or military clients
  • Familiarity with medical reporting software and diagnostic reading

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Advanced degree as a Nurse Practitioner with current licensure in Indiana
  • At least 1-2 years of clinical experience in general medicine or related specialties
  • Prior experience conducting non-treatment assessments is advantageous but not mandatory

Other Requirements
  • Own or access to an appropriate, fully equipped private office when required
  • Willingness to perform both in-home (for some locations) and in-office exams
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks such as report submissions and addendums promptly
  • Commitment to adhering to all training, credentialing, and compliance standards established by VHS and federal agencies
