VHS is seeking skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioners specializing in General Medicine to provide vital Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. Required Skills:
Valid Nurse Practitioner license for California
Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or equivalent
Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
Ability to perform non-treatment exams with professionalism and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and comfort working independently
Willingness to follow prescribed protocols and documentation requirements
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with Compensation & Pension examinations or military-related assessments
Familiarity with veteran healthcare needs and the VA system
Certification in medical assessment or related fields
Experience working in rural or outpatient settings
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing
At least 2 years of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
Experience conducting interviews and physical examinations in outpatient settings
Knowledge of medical documentation and report submission procedures
Other Requirements:
Residence within specified radius of assignment locations or willingness to work remotely from your home office
Ability to work PRN, on a flexible schedule, including half-day or full-day shifts
Willingness to complete necessary credentialing promptly
No prescribing or treatment involved; exams are interview-based with minimal physical assessment
Travel and travel-related reimbursements included when applicable

Hourly Pay Rate: $800 for half-day shifts (4 hours or less); $1,600 for full-day shifts (5 hours or more). A one-time bonus of $650 is available upon completing training and performing your first exams. Local candidates only; travel is included in rates.
