Overview:
Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to perform interview-based examinations and physical assessments to support Veterans' healthcare evaluations. This position is ideal for healthcare professionals specializing in general medicine, internal medicine, family practice, or orthopedic surgery with a background in compensation and pension evaluations. Work on a PRN basis, with flexible half-day or full-day shifts, ensuring a balance that fits your professional and personal commitments. Required Skills:
Current Nurse Practitioner license in Alaska
Experience in general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or orthopedic surgery
Strong assessment skills, including physical exams and range of motion/muscle strength testing
Excellent communication and interview skills
Ability to work independently and efficiently in your own office location
Knowledge of Veterans’ Affairs medical evaluation procedures is preferred but not mandatory
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with compensation and pension exams
Familiarity with medical report writing and documentation
Certification in relevant medical specialties or additional healthcare credentials
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree or higher in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
At least 2 years of clinical practice experience
Previous experience working with Veterans or in a similar assessment role
Other Requirements:
Own a suitable office location within 50 miles of Juneau or Sitka for local candidates in Alaska, or within 75 miles for Delta Junction
Willingness to undergo quick credentialing and onboarding process
No prescribing or treatment responsibilities required
Ability to perform both interviews and select physical assessments (range of motion testing, muscle strength)
Engagement in regular administrative follow-up (addendums, reports) is expected but compensated within the daily or half-day rate only
Local travel is included in the pay rate; no additional travel reimbursements
Must pass background checks and credentialing procedures
