What You’ll Do
Prepare tissue specimens by embedding in paraffin and sectioning for microscopic examination
Perform special procedures such as immunohistochemistry, special stains, and decalcified bone processing
Maintain quality control and ensure proper documentation of QC activities
Assist with special procedures, including sending out samples and packaging specimens
Maintain and clean laboratory equipment and reagents
Follow safety protocols and adapt practices to patient needs and organizational standards
Support training and education of lab staff as needed
What You Need
Active Histotechnologist (HTL) certification (ASCP)
Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (Specialist or Generalist)
At least 2 years’ experience in histology laboratory work
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
About the Assignment
This role involves processing and analyzing surgical, biopsy, and autopsy tissue specimens. It requires technical expertise in embedding, staining, and special procedures, with a focus on quality and safety standards. You will work directly within a busy histology lab supporting high-quality patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
