What You'll Do:
As a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, you'll provide direct counseling, develop personalized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for clients. Your expertise will help individuals navigate their recovery journeys, fostering hope and positive change.
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of addiction and recovery principles
Effective communication and active listening skills
Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
Knowledge of confidentiality and ethical guidelines
Proficiency in documentation and reporting
Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with AVATAR EMR is a plus but not mandatory
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience working with diverse populations
Crisis intervention skills
Knowledge of local state regulations regarding substance use treatment
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred
Prior experience in substance abuse counseling or behavioral health settings
Certification or licensure as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor (e.g., CADC, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor)
Other Requirements:
Valid Pennsylvania drivers license and reliable transportation (if travel is required)
Willingness to undergo background checks and certifications as needed
Use of AVATAR EMR system experience is advantageous but not required
