Join Our Team as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) - Group Facilitator

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to serve as a Group Facilitator within our Partial Hospitalization (ASAM 2.5) and Intensive Outpatient (ASAM 2.1) programs. This vital role offers an opportunity to lead therapeutic groups, support clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, and contribute to a compassionate, recovery-oriented environment. In this role, you will facilitate evidence-based group therapy sessions, utilizing approaches such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention strategies. You will foster a safe, supportive environment that encourages active participation and peer support, helping clients achieve sustained recovery and improved well-being. Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, ongoing professional development, and crisis intervention are integral components of your responsibilities. Your expertise will directly impact the success of our clients’ recovery and the overall effectiveness of our programs.
Required Skills:
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Assistant (CSAC) certified by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or actively registered as a CSAC
Knowledge of co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders
Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage group dynamics and handle conflicts constructively
Proficiency in clinical documentation and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment approaches
Ability to adapt facilitation techniques based on group needs
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with psychoeducational interventions and skill-building exercises
Knowledge of Medicaid and Human Rights regulations
CPR, First Aid, and Behavior Management certification
Experience working in multidisciplinary treatment teams
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field
At least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to adults with mental health or substance use disorders
Certification as a QMHP-A or similar credential is advantageous
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of criminal history and background investigations
Availability for a minimum of 40 hours of annual training
Ability to work days, Monday through Friday, with a 5-day workweek
Willingness to adhere to a drug-free workplace policy
