Join Our Team as an Activities Director - Residential Therapeutic Setting

We are seeking a dedicated Activities Director to develop and implement engaging, therapeutic activities within a residential setting that fosters healing, hope, and growth. This vital role offers the opportunity to lead innovative programs, supervise staff, and contribute to a supportive environment that promotes positive development for our clients.
In this role, you will coordinate and oversee a variety of individual and group activities tailored to clients from infancy through adulthood. You will bring fresh ideas to enhance our therapeutic programs, organize community and holiday events, and ensure all activities align with treatment goals. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a safe, structured, and enriching environment, serving as a role model and a source of encouragement for clients and staff alike.
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing activity programming for children/adolescents
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass physical exam, drug screen, TB test, and background checks (MVR, KBI, Child Abuse Registry)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively
Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic techniques
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Nice to Have Skills:
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
First Aid/CPR certification
Mandt certification
Experience supervising specialized staff such as equine specialists, master gardeners, and ropes course employees
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field
At least 2 years of experience in activity programming within a therapeutic or residential setting
Prior experience working with diverse age groups from infants to adults
Other Requirements:
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Willingness to manage activity budgets and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to adhering to safety protocols, client rights, and organizational policies
