Overview:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) on our team, you will be entrusted with delivering comprehensive pulmonary care under physician supervision. Your expertise ensures the safety and well-being of critically ill and chronically ill patients through assessments, technical procedures, and respiratory therapy interventions. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth in a fast-paced hospital setting, supporting patient recovery and outcomes through advanced respiratory management.
Required Skills:
Valid RT or RCP license in the state of employment
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from NBRC
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
1-3 years of experience in respiratory therapy preferred
Proficiency in airway management, ventilator setup and operation, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway support devices (BiPAP, CPAP)
Strong patient assessment and documentation skills
Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, including Code Blue/White events
Effective teamwork and communication capabilities
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with therapeutic gas management (e.g., INO, HeO2)
Pulmonary Function Testing and polysomnography
Bronchoscopy assistance and hemodynamic monitoring
Waveform analysis and nocturnal SpO2 evaluation
Participation in CAP and JC surveys
Leadership or team lead experience in respiratory care
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, or relevant healthcare field
1-3 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting, ideally with critical care exposure
Other Requirements:
Must hold current licensure and certifications, obtained within required timeframes as per CHRISTUS Health policies
Willingness to work a 12-hour day shift from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, including rotating weekends
Ability to travel and adapt to various hospital environments
