Travel: Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (Transfusion/Blood Banking) — City/State TBD
Pay: $41.54/hour
Shift: 06:00–19:30
Schedule: Saturday–Monday

What You’ll Do
  • Perform routine and complicated laboratory procedures in assigned areas, following appropriate reference ranges and procedures
  • Process and handle patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution, with attention to specimen requirements
  • Conduct testing of patient specimens, including entering, calculating, and verifying results in the Laboratory Information System
  • Perform and document quality control activities to ensure testing accuracy and reliability
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment; escalate minor repair needs as required
  • Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values
  • Participate in cross-training and support updates to testing procedures and protocols as needed

Transfusion/Blood Banking emphasis: Must have excellent Transfusion Service (Blood Banking) skills.

What You Need
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology OR equivalent credentialed education per CLIA requirements
  • MT / MLS / CLS / MLT certification from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
  • Maintain certification if it has an expiration date
  • Education/experience path:
    • No experience required for graduates of an NAACLS (or HHS-approved) clinical laboratory training program
    • OR 1 year approved clinical laboratory experience within the last 5 years, including clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids
  • Excellent Transfusion Service (Blood Banking) skills

Preferred
  • SBB certification not preferred (only considered if included on another order)

About the Assignment
You’ll join a clinical laboratory team performing full-scope laboratory testing and quality processes, including specimen processing, instrument operation, result reporting, and quality control. This assignment emphasizes transfusion service (blood banking) support and the accurate, timely communication of critical results.
