What You’ll Do
  • Provide high-quality critical care to pediatric patients with diagnoses including MS, DKA, Sepsis, Respiratory Failure, Post-Op Spinal Surgeries, Hips, and Neuro Cases, while floating to adult ICU and Med/Surg units based on skillset and approval.
  • Work on a 12-hour night shift schedule (12H Nights) with every other weekend and 2-3 holiday rotations.
  • Collaborate with an experienced team in a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:2, supported by a multidisciplinary staff including intensivists, hospitalists, RT, and resource nurses.
  • Support patient safety and comfort through skills such as titrating pressors, insulin, heparin, and pain medications, along with wound care, drains, and telemetry.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience in an acute care setting.
  • Valid RN license with all relevant certifications, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and preferably NRP.
  • Proficiency with PIV placement, CVL management, telemetry, wound care, and drains.
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start.
  • Comfort with titrating medications such as pressors and insulin; confident in performing phlebotomy and blood draws from peripheral and central lines.
  • Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and willingness to float to adult ICU or Med/Surg units if licensed and trained.

Nice to Have Skills
  • Cross-training in adult ICU or Med/Surg units.
  • Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication systems.
  • Additional certifications such as NRP or experience with pediatric neuro cases or orthopedics.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Registered Nurse license with at least 2 years of PICU experience in a comparable pediatric setting.
  • Prior experience with float staffing or multi-unit care environments.

Other Requirements
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a 4-day/3-day rotating schedule, including select holidays and weekends.
  • Must wear designated scrubs (gray, white, or black with WK monogram) and credentials worn above the waist.
  • Travel reimbursement, licensure, certification, and necessary PPE will be supported.
  • Travel or time-off requests up to 7 days are permissible with proper approval; beyond that, requests are not accommodated.
