Overview
As a Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine, you will perform Compensation & Pension examinations and Separation Health Assessments for veterans, primarily conducting interview-based assessments with some physical testing. This essential role involves no treatment or prescribing, focusing solely on clinical evaluations to support veterans' benefit claims. Work independently at your own office location, with flexible scheduling options, and contribute to a vital public service initiative that helps our veterans access the care they deserve.
Required Skills
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
Active medical license in Texas
Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine fields
Proven experience conducting medical assessments or examinations
Strong communication skills and ability to perform detailed interviews and physical assessments
Ability to work independently and manage documentation efficiently
Nice to Have Skills
Previous experience with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or veterans’ health assessments
Familiarity with VA or government-sponsored medical evaluations
Certification in medical documentation or report writing
Bilingual abilities to support diverse veteran populations
Preferred Education and Experience
At least 2 years of clinical practice in a primary care or general medicine setting
Prior experience with veteran or government health assessments is advantageous but not required
Proven ability to deliver thorough, accurate exam reports within designated timeframes
Other Requirements
Own your office location in Houston, TX, with necessary medical equipment
Willingness to perform exams on a PRN, ongoing basis, including weekends or evenings if needed
Complete required credentialing and onboarding processes promptly
No additional reimbursements for certifications or portal training; all administrative follow-up work is included within the scheduled hours
