Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner seeking flexible, impactful work supporting our nation's Veterans? VHS is actively hiring qualified General Medicine Providers to perform crucial Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. This role offers meaningful service opportunities, competitive compensation, and the flexibility to choose your working days and locations, making it ideal for experienced clinicians committed to excellence.

In this vital role, you will conduct interview-based assessments primarily, with optional physical evaluations such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is required. The position operates on a PRN basis, offering the ability to work half-day or full-day shifts across various MO locations within a 50-mile radius, with some assignments requiring traveling to different sites. This is an excellent opportunity for providers with backgrounds in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or those with general medicine or compensation and pension experience.

Required Skills:
  • Medical license in good standing applicable to the state of Missouri
  • Prior experience in family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
  • Strong interview and physical assessment skills
  • Ability to adhere to strict exam protocols and documentation requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable self-management and organization

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with VA or governmental exam procedures
  • Familiarity with compensation and pension evaluations
  • Previous work in telemedicine or mobile assessments
  • Certification in specific medical assessments or supplemental qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in general or internal medicine
  • Prior experience conducting VA-related exams or assessments is advantageous but not mandatory

Other Requirements:
  • Ownership of your own office space within the specified geographic radius
  • Willingness to perform exams on a PRN basis with flexible scheduling
  • Ability to complete follow-up administrative tasks such as report writing and addenda
  • Must be local candidates, with travel expenses included in the rate structure
  • No reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start
