Job Description


Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry
Position: Full-Time
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Schedule: Includes every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday); holidays required. No on-call duties.
Location: The University of Kansas Health System

Overview:
Join a dynamic team providing specialized care to adult cardiac patients in a high-acuity, inpatient setting. Our telemetry units focus on post-invasive cardiac procedures, chest pain management, and treating acute illnesses such as sepsis, COVID-19 complications, alcohol withdrawal, and arrhythmia management. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced cardiac nursing skills within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult cardiac patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and effective treatment adherence.
  • Monitor continuous cardiac telemetry, interpret complex rhythm strips, and respond promptly to arrhythmias or changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications and solutions with precision, including titration of medications like Tikosyn and Sotalol.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and modify patient care plans.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Educate patients and families regarding condition management, medication adherence, and post-discharge care.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent hospital nursing experience, ideally within an acute care setting.
  • Licensure: Valid Kansas Registered Nurse license.
  • Certifications: Current ACLS and BLS certification required. Experience with TR Band is necessary.
  • Preferred: BSN degree, experience in telemetry or cardiac units.
