Physician - General Medicine (Locum Tenens) – Competitive Hourly Rate

As a vital part of the Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, you'll contribute to ensuring our veterans receive timely and professional evaluations, all while enjoying the benefits of a rewarding and flexible role.
Your expertise will support Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across multiple locations, including both provider-owned offices and remote settings. Work on an as-needed basis, with options for half or full days, offering the perfect balance between professional fulfillment and personal flexibility. This role is ideal for healthcare professionals with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine, who are committed to serving those who have served.
Required Skills:
Medical degree (MD/DO) with license to practice in Indiana
Proven experience in general medicine or similar fields
Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
Ability to perform both interview-based and physical exams efficiently
Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
Ability to work independently within a defined geographic radius
Comfortable with completing administrative follow-up work related to exams
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran healthcare
Familiarity with medical documentation and reporting systems
Certification in relevant areas or additional training in veteran health assessments
Preferred Education and Experience:
Medical degree from an accredited institution
Active Indiana medical license
Experience in internal or family medicine
Prior experience with government or veteran healthcare assessments is a plus
At least 2 years of clinical practice experience
Other Requirements:
Ability to travel locally within specified radius or operate from own office location
Must have reliable internet and communication tools for remote coordination
Willingness to complete mandatory training and perform initial exams to qualify
No prescription, treatment, or dispensing responsibilities required
Flexibility to work PRN (as-needed) basis with ongoing opportunities
Compensation:
Half-day (4 hours or less): $800 flat rate
Full-day (5 hours or more): $1600 flat rate
One-time bonus of $650 upon completing training and initial exams
Hourly pay rate of $624.00 for additional hours or interpretations as applicable
Travel and licensure reimbursements where applicable
