Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Surgical Services Director, the RN Circulator provides comprehensive, professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The Circulating Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and smooth operation of the surgical environment. This pivotal role involves coordinating intraoperative activities, maintaining detailed documentation, and supporting the surgical team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Safety: Assist in the preparation, positioning, and monitoring of patients pre, intra, and post-operation to ensure safety and comfort.
Surgical Support: Prepare and verify the surgical environment, ensuring all necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are available, sterile, and functioning properly.
Intraoperative Coordination: Act as the team's logistical coordinator during procedures, facilitating communication among team members, and responding promptly to any intraoperative needs.
Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of the surgical process, including team members involved, instrumentation used, and any operative complications or deviations.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all documentation complies with hospital policies, legal requirements, and accreditation standards.
Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments throughout procedures.
Patient Advocacy: Prioritize patient safety and comfort, collaborating with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Current and valid RN license in the state of New Hampshire.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA).
Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Prior experience in an Operating Room setting as a circulating nurse preferred.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
