In this role, you will conduct primarily interview-based assessments with some physical testing, including range of motion and muscle strength evaluations. No prescribing or treatment is involved, making this position ideal for experienced general medicine providers seeking a non-treatment-focused role. The work supports our nation's Veterans, ensuring they receive the evaluations necessary for their benefits.
Required Skills:
Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in North Carolina
Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
Experience with or willingness to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments
Strong interview and assessment skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with VA or military-related healthcare assessments
Certification in relevant specialties
Knowledge of medical diagnostics or familiarity with PACT or similar systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher
Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience
Previous experience in military or veterans health is advantageous
Other Requirements:
Providers must have their own office within the specified radius to serve assigned locations
Willingness to work on a PRN, ongoing basis, with flexible half-day or full-day shifts
Local candidates only; travel is included in the rates
No bill rates, overtime, or holiday pay applicable; strictly follow the flat rate structure
Completion of required training and exams to qualify for a one-time bonus of $650
This role offers a competitive flat rate of $600 for half-day shifts (up to 4 hours) and $1200 for full-day shifts (5 hours or more). We also provide a one-time bonus for completing initial training and your first exams.
