Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine seeking flexible, impactful work that makes a difference? VHS is looking for qualified providers to deliver vital Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in a rewarding, government-contracted role that supports our nation's Veterans.
As a Locum Nurse Practitioner with VHS, you will perform interview-based examinations and physical assessments — including range of motion and muscle strength testing — without prescribing or providing treatment. You will work on a PRN basis, with the flexibility to choose half-day or full-day shifts, fitting your schedule and lifestyle while contributing to a significant cause.
Required Skills:
Valid Nurse Practitioner licensure in applicable state(s)
Experience or background in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar fields
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to conduct interview-based assessments and perform basic physical evaluations
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar assessments
Familiarity with VA or government-related medical evaluations
Ability to work independently in your own office location
Experience in report writing and brief medical documentation
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
At least 2 years of clinical or assessment-related experience
Proven ability to handle administrative follow-up tasks efficiently
Other Requirements:
Own a dedicated office space within specified radius requirements for scheduled days
Willingness to travel locally within the assigned areas
Complete required certifications and onboarding promptly
Availability to start by 03/06/2026
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive hourly rates: $600 for half-day (4 hours or less) and $1200 for full-day (5+ hours) shifts
One-time bonus of $650 upon completing initial training and performing first exams
Weekly pay via direct deposit
