Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for general medicine and a desire to serve those who have served our country? VHS, a trusted partner of Veterans Evaluation Services, is seeking highly qualified Locum Nurse Practitioners to perform vital Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across California. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute meaningfully to veterans' healthcare while enjoying flexible scheduling and competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct one-time non-treatment C&P exams and separation health assessments primarily based on interviews, with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing.
  • Collaborate with veterans to gather pertinent medical histories and complete assessment reports efficiently.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and compliance standards, respecting the non-treatment nature of the exams.
  • Complete exams in a timely manner, including report submissions and any necessary addendums.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in California.
  • Strong knowledge of general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or similar fields.
  • Experience with or familiarity in performing compensation and pension evaluations is preferred.
  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle administrative follow-up.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Background in orthopedic surgery or similar specialties.
  • Experience in conducting physical assessments related to veterans' health.
  • Familiarity with telehealth or remote assessment procedures.
  • Prior government or military healthcare experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Prior experience with veteran or military populations is advantageous.

Other Requirements:
  • Working from your own office locations or home within specified radii (50 miles preferred).
  • Willingness to work PRN basis, with flexible scheduling options including half-day (4-hour) and full-day (8-hour) shifts.
  • Availability for exams scheduled across different days and locations, including rural areas.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within designated regional areas.
  • Credentialing and onboarding are quick and streamlined.

This role offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $402.00, with additional bonuses for completing initial training and first exams.
