We are seeking skilled Locum Nurse Practitioners to provide vital compensation and pension assessments for Veterans across California. In this role, you will perform non-treatment, interview-based exams, including physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing, primarily for veterans evaluating their compensation and separation health assessments. No prescribing or treatment is required. The position offers the flexibility of PRN ongoing assignments, with options for half-day or full-day shifts, making it ideal for experienced professionals seeking adaptable work schedules.
Required Skills:
Current Nurse Practitioner license with certification in family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedics
Proven experience in general medicine or compensation and pension evaluations
Strong interview and assessment skills
Ability to perform physical assessments confidently
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and adhere to exam protocols
Nice to Have Skills:
Prior experience with VA or veteran evaluations
Familiarity with disability or compensation exams
Certification in DMA or additional federal qualifications
Experience working remotely or in rural settings
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing
Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice in general medicine
Prior experience with VA or veteran-related assessments is highly desirable
Other Requirements:
Candidates must reside within a specified radius of exam locations (within 50 miles for most sites)
Travel is included in the hourly rates; local candidates only
Quick credentialing and onboarding process
Ability to complete administrative follow-up, including report submissions and addendums
Compensation:
Flat rate of $800 for half-day (4 hours or less) shifts
Flat rate of $1,600 for full-day (5 hours or more) shifts
One-time bonus of $650 upon completing all required training and initial exams
Hourly rate of $402.00 is for informational purposes; actual pay structure is based on flat rates per shift
